Usually, when you come across a used R9, it’s in perfect or near-mint condition. Players prize these guitars. Lots of folks wouldn’t think of taking theirs out to an actual gig. But sometimes, you find one that’s got some honest wear to it, some battle scars, some nicks and bruises. We call those guitars “player” guitars for a reason — they’ve been played, and it shows. This is one of those guitars. Here’s a 2011 Gibson Historic R9 1959 Les Paul in VOS bourbon burst with a terrific top. From a couple feet away it looks new. Up close, it also sports a few dings, and scratches, mostly on the back where you’ll find some mild buckle rash, but also some scuffs on the side and some scratching on the top, underneath the bridge. We’re talking cosmetics here, not structural damage or repairs. It is priced accordingly. The guitar has BurstBucker pickups, Bumblebee caps, Kluson deluxe tuning keys and historic Lifton style case with all case candy and certificate of authenticity. Weighs in at exactly 8 pounds 14 ounces of historic Gibson tone.
