Hours

Business hours are 10-6 pm Mon-Fri. We respond promptly to all emails. Showroom hours are by appointment only, Monday through Saturday. Please call before you come, we want to be sure we’re here and that you’ll have the place to yourself to make an informed decision.

Purchases

We want you to be thrilled with your new instrument. Come and visit and you’ll have all the time you need to make a great choice. If you are not able to visit, you may request a 48-hour approval period on any purchase (excepting consigned guitars and international sales). Guitars purchased under the 48-hour approval period may be returned for 100 percent credit less the original shipping cost, provided they are sent back in the same condition in which they were sent. Guitars returned for a refund may be subject to a 3 percent fee to cover merchant costs depending on method of payment. Please note that PayPal recently changed its policy to not refund the transaction fee on returns, so unfortunately there will be a 3 percent restocking fee, unless you use PayPal Friends and Family to pay. Refunds are issued by check once the guitar is received and inspected. Guitars that are damaged during shipment to you will, of course, be refunded 100 percent once the guitar is received back. In the event of shipping damage, please document with photos and retain all packing materials for the carrier to inspect. Please do not fill out the warranty card or register the guitar until you are sure you will be keeping it. Due to high fees and erratic exchange rates, only bank transfers and TransferWise transfers are accepted on international banks and for overseas transactions. No exceptions. Due to logistical issues with Customs and fees, all international sales are considered final.

Layaways

Certain instruments in stock can be placed on layaway with an initial deposit of 25%, and you may take up to 60 days to complete your purchase, with no extra fees or interest. Once your deposit is in hand, your guitar is stored in its case, and placed on hold on the website. As we’re removing the instrument off the market for you, the initial deposit is non-refundable should you elect not to complete your purchase, however, the deposit can be applied toward another instrument. Instruments bought on layaway are returnable under our trial period for exchange only. We are reasonable, and will work with you on the terms to complete the transaction smoothly. Please call or email for details.

Shipping

We ship FedEx domestically, and Fedex International internationally. Please note, all import duties, taxes and other customs charges are not included in the purchase price and are the responsibility of the buyer. Check your country’s requirements to calculate those costs. We do not ship via USPS internationally due to past problems. New Fender and PRS instruments cannot be shipped internationally but used ones can. Guitars with Brazilian rosewood cannot legally be shipped internationally, but it is acceptable to carry them on an airplane as a personal item. Please do not ask us to put an incorrect value on the customs forms.

Payment

We accept major credit cards by phone; we also accept bank wire transfers and checks, once they clear. Wire transfer or TransferWise (wise.com) is required for international purchases. Massachusetts residents and those picking up their instrument in person must pay 6.25 percent sales tax.

Trades

Trades present a challenge both to the shop and to the instrument’s owner. It can be difficult to set a market price on a preowned instrument, and the shop must commit inventory dollars to an instrument that may take a while to sell and thus needs to get a reasonable return to pay for overhead. Typically, a trade price would be about 70 percent of the instrument’s retail value. You’ll usually get a lot more for your instrument selling it yourself, or consigning it and allowing us to sell it for you. Please call or email for details or to discuss a specific instrument.

Consignments

We accept consignment sales on certain instruments; the rate is 20 percent with a $350 minimum. Consignments are accepted only against a purchase of another instrument of equal or greater value. Owner is responsible for shipping costs and for any expenses associated with the sale — Paypal fees, merchant charges, etc. Please call or email for details.

Custom orders

We can order exactly what you want from any of our builders, please call or email for details. Note: Deposits and layaway payments on custom orders are non-refundable once the order is placed with the builder; however, in the event you must cancel your order, we will be happy to issue an appropriate store credit once the special order instrument has been sold to another buyer.
