This is a B-stock instrument … it was sent back from 60 miles away under my trial policy and UPS still managed to destroy the box somehow and the driver handed me the case with a label taped to it. The case came back dirty from being handled. Guitar is perfect. Actually, it looks 66 years old but it was before it was shipped. You get a new Custom Shop case but it’s not a tweed one, it’s the brown tolex variety. Price is discounted accordingly. A good deal for you. Not the first time I’ve lost a box in transit with UPS. Unreal. That’s why I ship FedEx.
You could buy a shiny new Telecaster and then spend the next 66 years wearing it down, but who has time for that? The Fender Custom Shop 1951 Heavy Relic Telecaster is an authentic evocation of Fender’s first workhorse guitar, with upgraded features for modern playability. Its lightweight ash body features a Heavy Relic lacquer finish that imparts the look of long years of use and abuse. Time-honored Telecaster snap comes from dual hand wound Nocaster pickups with three-way switching and modern wiring.
Other premium features include a tinted maple neck with a Nocaster “U”-shaped profile and 9.5”-radius maple fingerboard, 6105 frets and bone nut, single-ply black Bakelite pickguard, vintage bridge with compensated saddles, and vintage Fender-logo tuners. Weighs just over 7 pounds. Includes strap, Custom Shop certificate of authenticity.
