I’ve been lucky enough to play some very fine electric guitars, but in my mind there isn’t a finer semi-hollow guitar out there than the Collings I-35. Semi-hollow construction: In order to achieve the loose feel and dynamic response of a long-played vintage instrument, we fully reengineered our laminate and center block recipes for the I-35 LC Vintage. Electronics: Era-appropriate while delivering clarity at every volume is a set of Throbak ESG-102B humbuckers tweaked to a custom Collings spec specifically for the I-35 LC Vintage, all complemented by a set of Luxe Bumblebee capacitors. Aged Finish and Hardware: Every I-35 LC Vintage sports our aged finish and aged hardware, an in-house developed process designed to give a truly time-worn look and feel. An altered truss rod curve and carefully chosen materials specific to the Vintage based on grain orientation, weight, and density are just a couple of the aspects that contribute to its expressive and organic feel and tone. Vintage Appointments: Gold or black reflector top knobs and a wide-bevel 3-ply pickgurard complement the aged finish and hardware and three vintage-inspired color options. Here's a nice 2011 Collings 290 DC S in natural mahogany upgraded with a tortoise pickguard and truss rod cover. This is a dual cutaway example with a handwound Lollar P-90 pickup, volume and tone control. Pure rock and roll. Collings calls this guitar a modern-day tribute to the original workingman’s rock ‘n roll guitar. You’ll just call it a great guitar. Solid select mahogany body and neck, “haircut” headstock, rosewood fingerboard, long mortise and tenon neck joint with a contoured heel, a medium-fat C neck shape and 12″ radius, and a 50s wiring scheme. Here's an as-new Collings 360 LT M guitar in a special order shell pink finish, alder body, curly maple neck, mint green pickguard, Lollar JazzMaster pickups and the outstanding Mastery offset vibrato and bridge. This was ordered with a custom stout neck carve that is larger than the standard neck (.900 at the nut instead of the standard .865). As Collings says: "Our versatile 360 offset body shape has lent itself to several different adaptations since it's inception in 2009.
