The guitar is a true hollowbody with trestle block construction, with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer hand-rubbed to a gently worn patina (no dings or dents). Here's Collings' venerable 290 in a custom natural mahogany finish with tortoise pickguard and truss rod cover. This is a dual cutaway example with two ThroBak 55/56 SB P90s. Collings calls this guitar a modern-day tribute to the original workingman’s rock ‘n roll guitar. You’ll just call it a great guitar. I’ve been lucky enough to play some very fine electric guitars, but in my mind there isn’t a finer semi-hollow guitar out there than the Collings I-35.
