I'm a big fan of Waterloo guitars by Collings ... unfortunately, as a dealer I have been unable to order any inventory guitars for several years and it's unclear if that will change. So here is a really rare opportunity for a custom one-off Waterloo WL-14 X, finished in satin black and customized with an Adirondack spruce top, long saddle, back binding and rosewood bridge. Large V neck, no pickguard. One of a kind guitar. About Waterloo: Collings quality with minimalist aesthetics, harkening back to vintage tone of the original Kalamazoo guitars. The WL-14 is the flagship model of the Waterloo guitar line and the inspiration that started it all. This guitar is in the black finish with a white pickguard, and is X-braced with an adjustable trussrod. Solid spruce tops, solid mahogany bodies, rosewood fretboards, 1.75 ebony nut, bone saddles, Golden Age Restoration tuners and a semi-gloss nitro finish. Waterloos are made at the Collings facility in Austin, TX — “Waterloo” was the name of the village which eventually grew into Austin. With hardshell case. Top: Solid spruce; Back and sides: Solid mahogany; Neck: Mahogany, vintage V neck; Nut: 1 3/4; Width: 14 3/4; Depth: 4 1/4; Scale: 24.75; Binding: Ivoroid; Rosette: Ivoroid; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

SaleHere's a sweet 2015 Collings 12-fret 002H with some nice custom upgrades, including a headstock torch and custom "mom" fingerboard inlays -- named for the favorite inlays of the late Bill Collings' mother. Excellent condition, with just some light pick marks and a few small dents you have to look at under the right lighting to notice. Fantastic guitar. Save yourself a couple grand. With Collings’ typical terrific projection and great volume, this guitar will amaze you with its voice. 12 frets, open headstock, beautiful build, short scale, pre-war scalloped bracing, a modified V neck, ebony fretboard and bridge, and herringbone binding. Impossible to put down. With original hardshell case. Collings says: "We offer the 00 in its original 12-fret configuration , a guitar shape that was first designed around the time of the Civil War. Its dimensions are similar to a typical classical guitar, with a slotted headstock and small pyramid bridge. The comfortable size and timeless appearance of the Collings 00 is matched by the ease of playing a wide neck and shorter string scale affords. The tone is typically balanced and precise, and we’ve seen it adopted for a wide range of playing styles from simple vocal accompaniment to ragtime solos. When you want the durability of a modern guitar but one that appears rooted in an earlier, simpler time, the 00 is a versatile choice." Condition: Excellent, see description; Top: Select sitka spruce; Back and sides: East Indian rosewood; Neck: Mahogany, modified V; Nut: 1 13/16; Width: 14 1/4; Depth: 4; Scale: 24 7/8; Binding: Tortoise; Purfling: b/w/b; Rosette: b/w/b; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

Here is a brand new Collings 470 JL Julian Lage signature model, in a lightly aged antiqued sunburst finish. The guitar is a true hollowbody with trestle block construction, with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer hand-rubbed to a gently worn patina (no dings or dents). Pickups are Ron Ellis Ellisonic, and a Bigsby vibrato completes the vintage vibe. Marvelous instrument. Collings sez: "The success of the Collings OM1 JL combined with Julian Lage’s love of electric guitars meant a second Collings-Julian collaboration was inevitable. But following such a highly praised signature model with yet another meant leaving nothing on the table. From its organic beginnings, the process envisioned by both parties was something designed and built from the sound up. The Collings 470 JL is the result of years-long conversations, engineering, testing, tweaking, playing, and listening. And then doing it all over again until it was right. From first sketches through plugging in the final prototypes, every aspect of this model inside and out is the result of a unique approach, technique, and style - both from the builder’s and player’s point of view - culminating in a one-of-a-kind electric guitar experience. In collaboration with our friend Julian Lage, we proudly present the Collings 470 JL." Terrific guitar. Ameritage style hardshell case. Serial 47026813 Condition: Lightly aged; Body: Mahogany, maple laminate top; Neck: Mahogany, ebony fretboard, 12 radius; Nut: 1 11/16; Color: Antique sunburst; Pickups: Ron Ellis Ellisonics; Scale: 24 7/8; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

Here's a brand new Collings D2H. Nobody makes a more powerful dread than Collings does. I'll let Collings describe it:
"The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, we bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The wide range of woods and neck sizes offered allow dreadnought fans to find a Collings model ideally suited to their playing style and tonal preference." -
Here's a new Collings I-35 LC Vintage in aged jet black. I’ve been lucky enough to play some very fine electric guitars, but in my mind there isn’t a finer semi-hollow guitar out there than the Collings I-35. And now they've made it even better: Collings sez: "After several years in development and numerous prototype iterations, we are excited to introduce an I-35 like you've never experienced before — the new I-35 LC Vintage. Drawing inspiration from the best instruments of the 1960s, our newest offering in the I-35 lineup provides an exceptionally loose and organic feel, achieved through a ground up reworking of everything from its laminate and center block recipes to its neck construction. Custom Throbak pickups and Bumblebee capacitors bring its open, acoustic response to life, expanding its versatility and proving that, although it looks every bit the part of a time-tested instrument, its appeal is more than just skin deep." Semi-hollow construction: In order to achieve the loose feel and dynamic response of a long-played vintage instrument, we fully reengineered our laminate and center block recipes for the I-35 LC Vintage. Electronics: Era-appropriate while delivering clarity at every volume is a set of Throbak ESG-102B humbuckers tweaked to a custom Collings spec specifically for the I-35 LC Vintage, all complemented by a set of Luxe Bumblebee capacitors. Aged Finish and Hardware: Every I-35 LC Vintage sports our aged finish and aged hardware, an in-house developed process designed to give a truly time-worn look and feel. An altered truss rod curve and carefully chosen materials specific to the Vintage based on grain orientation, weight, and density are just a couple of the aspects that contribute to its expressive and organic feel and tone. Vintage Appointments: Gold or black reflector top knobs and a wide-bevel 3-ply pickgurard complement the aged finish and hardware and three vintage-inspired color options. They just don’t get any better. Lifetime warranty from Collings and a deluxe hardshell case. Serial # I35LC252475 Condition: New, aged; Body: Maple laminate; Neck: Mahogany, rosewood fretboard, 12 radius; Nut: 1 11/16; Color: Aged jet black; Pickups: Throbak; Scale: 24 7/8; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

SaleLightly played and near mint condition. Save some bucks! Collings builds terrific dreads, and their venerable D1 with the Traditional package is no exception. This guitar is customized with a 1.75 nut. Handsome and understated tortoise binding with gold mother of pearl inlays , the Custom Traditional Series pre-war scalloped X-brace (no tongue brace), ultra-thin nitro finish and ebony fretboard and an ebony belly bridge give it Collings’ typical impressive volume and projection, yet allow the guitar to be equally responsive to a light touch. Dread of a lifetime. Hardshell case. Serial # 33811. Collings sez: "Our Traditional Series or "T-Series” guitars represent an exciting vintage-inspired tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound, designed and crafted to showcase the most desirable characteristics present in coveted pre-war instruments. Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection." Condition: Near mint; Top: Sitka spruce; Back and sides: Mahogany; Neck: Mahogany, Traditional profile; Nut: 1 3/4; Width: 15 5/8; Depth: 4 7/8; Scale: 25 1/2; Binding: Tortoise; Purfling: custom wood; Rosette: custom wood; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

I love small bodied acoustics, and this is one of my favorites. This C10 from Collings offers great tone in a small, comfortable package. Crisp trebles, substantial lows, and beautifully balanced. A great blues guitar, strumming guitar, and equally responsive to some dynamic finger picking, thanks to its narrow waist and small upper bout for focused response, and pre-war scalloped bracing. This example is customized with a 1 3/4 nut, tigerstripe pickguard and a gorgeous dark sunburst. Ebony fretboard, pins and bridge, bone nut and saddle. Collings says this is the ideal guitar for players who switch between electrics and acoustics, because the neck carve is the same rounded profile that you’ll find on the venerable Collings 290 electric, and the heel is small and rounded for excellent access to the upper frets. I agree. Big tone in a small package. Bravo. Lifetime warranty and hardshell Collings case. Serial #34753 Condition: New; Top: Select sitka spruce; Back and sides: Mahogany; Neck: Mahogany, medium-fat C neck carve; Nut: 1 3/4; Width: 14 3/4; Depth: 4 1/4; Scale: 25.5; Binding: Grained ivoroid; Purfling: b/w wood; Rosette: Ivoroid; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)
