• 1967’s Summer of Love and Flower Power movement influenced mainstream fashions worldwide, and Fender was on board with its new Paisley Telecasters. Oddly enough, the guitars became more popular with rockabilly and country western players (they were adopted most famously by Tele master James Burton) rather than the flower children that helped inspire them. These guitars have earned a special place in Fender history, and the Fender Custom Shop Vintage Custom 1968 Paisley Tele models are faithful recreations of those original instruments. The two-piece select alder body wears an NOS lacquer finish with WLS undercoat over the famous Paisley or Blue Flower motif. The rift-sawn maple neck has a ’60-style “oval C” profile, topped by a round-lam rift-sawn maple fingerboard with 7.25”-9.5” vintage compound radius and 21 medium vintage frets for a comfortable feel up and down. Hand-wound Tele pickups with a three-way switch and modern Tele wiring. Other features include an eight-hole clear polyurethane pickguard, ’67 Tele bridge with threaded steel saddles, Schaller® “F” tuning machines, bone nut, and wing string tree. Deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity included. Condition: Relic; Body: Alder; Neck: Riftsawn maple, mid 60s oval C carve (.850/.920), 7-25-9.5 compound radius; Nut: 1.650; Color: Black Paisley; Pickups: Custom Shop handwound Twisted Tele and Original Blackguard; Scale: 25.5; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

  • Here is a beautiful new left-handed Martin D-28 Modern Deluxe ... Martin took the Standard D-28 and added, among other things, a VTS top, maple binding, Adirondack spruce forward shifted X bracing, gold hardware, dovetail neck joint and protein glue construction, plus a new neck carve and a stylish abalone Martin logo. Wonderful guitar. Martin sez: "The D-28 Modern Deluxe is a new take on Martin Vintage. This guitar is packed with custom features and modern technology that you have to see, feel, and hear for yourself. The vintage appointments include a spruce VINTAGE TONE SYSTEM® (VTS) top, a dovetail neck joint, and natural protein glue construction that give it the rich, fully aged Martin tone that has inspired generations. The look is unlike anything in our production line to date with European flamed maple binding, stylish gold frets, gold open-gear tuners, and a unique 1930s style script logo inlaid in pearl on the headstock. Some ultra-modern features include Liquidmetal® bridge pins with red dots and a composite carbon fiber bridgeplate that boosts volume. And we’ve included a new neck shape that is slightly asymmetrical for maximum hand comfort up and down the fretboard. This guitar is anything but standard." (An amusing aside: A long (long) time ago, a couple of decades before I opened a guitar store, I played my first Martin D-28 at local store. The old, grizzled store owner, said, "Son, anyone who calls himself a guitar player needs to own him a Martin D-28." Then he told me I was a idiot for not learning how to play right handed. So I told him to stuff it and bought mine somewhere else. But I loved my D-28 and would still own it today had I not replaced it with a D-41 Special 17 years ago.) • 1966 was the first full year of the larger headstock on the Stratocaster—a significant enlargement that notably changed the look of the guitar and, many believe, enhanced its resonance. Under new CBS ownership since the previous year, Fender production was still top notch, and the company was still producing highly sought-after, high-quality instruments. The Custom Shop 1966 Strat Deluxe Closet Classic re-creates the sought after large-headstock Strat in detail, with the perfect customizations for players and aficionados alike. The two-piece select alder body wears a polished but slightly aged Deluxe Closet Classic lacquer finish, while the quartersawn maple neck has a ’66 “oval C” profile, 9.5”-radius round-lam rosewood fingerboard and 21 medium jumbo (6150) frets for classic comfortable play. Custom Shop hand-wound ’65 Strat gray-bottom pickups (with reverse-wound/reverse polarity middle pickup) deliver thick tone, with Vintage Modified #2 wiring with Tone-Saver bleed circuitry and five-way switching, all on a three-ply parchment pickguard. Other features include a Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut, and wing string tree with nylon spacer. Also includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity. Condition: Deluxe Closet Classic; Body: Alder; Neck: 5/4 quartersawn maple, 66 Strat Oval C profile (.840-.974), 9.5 radius; Nut: 1.650; Color: 3 color sunburst; Pickups: handwound Vintage 65 Strat; Scale: 25.5; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

  • I love small bodied acoustics, and this is one of my favorites. This C10 from Collings offers great tone in  a small, comfortable package.  Crisp trebles, substantial lows, and beautifully balanced. A great blues guitar, strumming guitar, and equally responsive to some dynamic finger picking, thanks to its narrow waist and small upper bout for focused response, and pre-war scalloped bracing. This example is customized with a 1 3/4 nut, tigerstripe pickguard and a gorgeous dark sunburst.  Ebony fretboard, pins and bridge, bone nut and saddle. Collings says this is the ideal guitar for players who switch between electrics and acoustics, because the neck carve is the same rounded profile that you’ll find on the venerable Collings 290 electric, and the heel is small and rounded for excellent access to the upper frets. I agree. Big tone in a small package. Bravo. Lifetime warranty and hardshell Collings case. Serial #34753 Condition: New; Top: Select sitka spruce; Back and sides: Mahogany; Neck: Mahogany, medium-fat C neck carve; Nut: 1 3/4; Width: 14 3/4; Depth: 4 1/4; Scale: 25.5; Binding: Grained ivoroid; Purfling: b/w wood; Rosette: Ivoroid; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

    National Resophonic
    El Trovador

Original price was: $5,000.00.Current price is: $4,500.00.
Here's a brand-new National Resophonic El Trovador, single cone resonator in mahogany. National's build quality is, as always, off the charts and I love these round neck resonators that are equally at home with a slide or a flatpick. I'll let National describe it: "Its Spanish name translates as “The Troubador,” and this wood-body single-cone National has been popular with musicians ever since its debut in 1932. This reissue was designed in collaboration with renowned blues and swing guitarist Mike Dowling. Like the original, our El Trovador features a large, four-inch-deep body constructed of mahogany — a wood famed for its sonic properties. A wooden soundwell houses the resonator, adding to the unique sound projection. The body is bound in multi-layer celluloid, with a matching purfling border around the classic coverplate. An ebony fretboard is mated to the solid mahogany neck, which is capped by a rosewood headstock overlay. With its rich, deep, warm tone, our El Trovador is one of National’s most popular guitars among troubadors everywhere."
