Here is a brand new Collings 470 JL Julian Lage signature model, in a lightly aged antiqued sunburst finish. The guitar is a true hollowbody with trestle block construction, with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer hand-rubbed to a gently worn patina (no dings or dents). Pickups are Ron Ellis Ellisonic, and a Bigsby vibrato completes the vintage vibe. Marvelous instrument. Collings sez: "The success of the Collings OM1 JL combined with Julian Lage’s love of electric guitars meant a second Collings-Julian collaboration was inevitable. But following such a highly praised signature model with yet another meant leaving nothing on the table. From its organic beginnings, the process envisioned by both parties was something designed and built from the sound up. The Collings 470 JL is the result of years-long conversations, engineering, testing, tweaking, playing, and listening. And then doing it all over again until it was right. From first sketches through plugging in the final prototypes, every aspect of this model inside and out is the result of a unique approach, technique, and style - both from the builder’s and player’s point of view - culminating in a one-of-a-kind electric guitar experience. In collaboration with our friend Julian Lage, we proudly present the Collings 470 JL." Terrific guitar. Ameritage style hardshell case. Pre-War Guitars Co. sez: "For many players, the double aught size gives the perfect balance of projection and depth, packed into the size most likely to get picked up for a jam in the living room. With a 24.9” scale and body right between the single 0 and triple 0, the double aught is perfect for finger-style, blues, or accompanying a singer with a surprising amount of bass, punch, and volume that belies it’s comfortable size. We utilize hot hide glue for all of the bracing as well as in our perfectly fit traditional dovetail neck joints. We use Torrefied tops and hand carved Torrefied brace wood for their dry-aged tone. Here's a brand new Collings D2H. Nobody makes a more powerful dread than Collings does. I'll let Collings describe it:
"The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, we bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The wide range of woods and neck sizes offered allow dreadnought fans to find a Collings model ideally suited to their playing style and tonal preference." -

Here's a new Collings I-35 LC Vintage in aged jet black. I’ve been lucky enough to play some very fine electric guitars, but in my mind there isn’t a finer semi-hollow guitar out there than the Collings I-35. And now they've made it even better: Collings sez: "After several years in development and numerous prototype iterations, we are excited to introduce an I-35 like you've never experienced before — the new I-35 LC Vintage. Drawing inspiration from the best instruments of the 1960s, our newest offering in the I-35 lineup provides an exceptionally loose and organic feel, achieved through a ground up reworking of everything from its laminate and center block recipes to its neck construction. Custom Throbak pickups and Bumblebee capacitors bring its open, acoustic response to life, expanding its versatility and proving that, although it looks every bit the part of a time-tested instrument, its appeal is more than just skin deep." Semi-hollow construction: In order to achieve the loose feel and dynamic response of a long-played vintage instrument, we fully reengineered our laminate and center block recipes for the I-35 LC Vintage. Electronics: Era-appropriate while delivering clarity at every volume is a set of Throbak ESG-102B humbuckers tweaked to a custom Collings spec specifically for the I-35 LC Vintage, all complemented by a set of Luxe Bumblebee capacitors. Aged Finish and Hardware: Every I-35 LC Vintage sports our aged finish and aged hardware, an in-house developed process designed to give a truly time-worn look and feel. An altered truss rod curve and carefully chosen materials specific to the Vintage based on grain orientation, weight, and density are just a couple of the aspects that contribute to its expressive and organic feel and tone. Vintage Appointments: Gold or black reflector top knobs and a wide-bevel 3-ply pickgurard complement the aged finish and hardware and three vintage-inspired color options. They just don’t get any better. Lifetime warranty from Collings and a deluxe hardshell case. Serial # I35LC252475 Condition: New, aged; Body: Maple laminate; Neck: Mahogany, rosewood fretboard, 12 radius; Nut: 1 11/16; Color: Aged jet black; Pickups: Throbak; Scale: 24 7/8; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

I haven't had the good fortune to play an 88-year-old D-18 in person, but this new Martin Authentic 1937 VTS D-18 is the next best thing, and it is a heck of a dread. Sounds amazing. I also stock the aged version, this one is non-aged (cosmetically). Martin says: "1937 was an excellent year for guitars, with a perfect storm of craftsmanship, innovation, and materials. This Authentic Series replication of a 1937 D-18 stays true to the original with hide glue construction and historically accurate detailing. This guitar features genuine mahogany back and sides and an Adirondack spruce top, and it includes an Authentic circa 1937 bracing pattern. Plus, it adds the Vintage Tone System® (VTS) that ages the wood to replicate the sound of a vintage Martin. Martin's craftspeople can recreate the pleasing visual aesthetics of a vintage guitar and reproduce the particular tones previously reserved for vintage instruments. Now Martin has reintroduced a more accurate body profile based on dreadnought shapes from the early Golden Era of Martin's history. The result is a tactile, visual, and auditory experience that will transport you all the way back to the 1930s. And we know you’re going to like it there." Condition: New; Top: Adirondack spruce; Back and sides: Mahogany; Neck: Mahogany, Authentic 1937; Nut: 1 3/4; Scale: 25.4; Binding: Brown tortoise pattern; Purfling: Multistripe; Rosette: Multistripe; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

I could not resist ordering this Iris with a beautiful limited edition hand painted Sarah Ryan top (one of 10 produced and almost certainly the only lefty). As Iris says, "This year Sarah took inspiration from the forests of our beautiful homeland of Vermont. The hand-painted details include what you might find on a hike through the Green Mountain State, such as: oak leaves with acorns, alder pinecones, trillium and a black bear (you never know!)." This is an OG model, customized with a 1 3/4 nut. Scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing, a bolt-on mortise and tenon neck, 2 7/32 bridge spacing, Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, open pore sating nitrocellulose finish, bone nut and saddle and Golden Age relic brass tuners. With TKL case. Iris says: “The original Iris that put us on the map: The OG Model. It has a comfortable 25” scale and an equally comfy C-shape neck.” ”Overall, it has a warm and dry voice, with an impressive midrange response. It takes equally well to being strummed with a pick or fingerpicked, in standard or open tunings, and it has a generous amount of headroom and projection.” — Acoustic Guitar, July/Aug 2019” Iris says: "This mid-thirties style guitar, with its short scale, is a wonderful complement to our line of small bodied Iris." Here is a nice demo of an OG with a previous Sarah Ryan design:Condition: New; Top: Sitka spruce; Back and sides: Mahogany; Neck: Mahogany; Nut: 1 3/4; Width: 14.5; Depth: 4 5/8; Scale: 25; Binding: Ivoroid; Purfling: b/w/b; Rosette: ivoroid; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)

Billy Strings has turned the bluegrass world on its ear the last few years, and I've been looking forward to sampling his signature model. Great guitar. Martin says: "Inspired by Billy Strings' prized 1940 D-28, the Martin D-28 Billy Strings brings a modern twist to a classic pre-war design, incorporating features tailored to Billy's electrifying playing style. This signature Dreadnought showcases a unique 25" scale length, reducing string tension for fast, intricate playing and expressive bends – perfectly suited for Billy’s rapid-fire licks. With a custom nut width that’s slightly wider than his pre-war Martin and a modified low oval satin neck, it offers enhanced comfort and speed, ideal for players who crave agility up and down the neck. The solid East Indian rosewood back and sides and spruce top deliver a full, resonant tone with rich bass, while the bold herringbone trim, antique toner, and antique white binding add vintage flair. Nickel enclosed gear tuners, exclusive to Martin, and an ebony fingerboard with abalone diamond and square inlay round out the guitar’s looks and performance. It’s an ideal balance of traditional craftsmanship and modern playability, much like Billy’s genre-defying style. Each guitar features a custom paper label with his pre-printed signature and graphic. " Condition: New; Top: Sitka spruce; Back and sides: East Indian rosewood; Neck: Mahogany, modified low oval carve; Nut: 1 23/32; Scale: 25; Binding: Antique white; Purfling: Bold Herringbone; Rosette: Multistripe; Orientation: Lefthanded (of course)
