Patrick James Eggle builds wonderful boutique instruments in his shop in Oswestry, U.K. He uses the best of everything — Callaham and Kluson hardware, Gotoh tuners, true lefty pots, Jescar 55090 frets (6105 found on Fenders and Gibsons) — and does a beautiful thin open pore nitro finish on the swamp ash bodies for great tone on a very lightweight guitar. This example, in black with white grainfill — is just under 7 pounds. The pickguard is brass with a unique hand patina. Neck is roasted AAA curly maple with a comfortable soft V profile and contoured heel. Patrick also reverses the control plate to make the volume pot more accessible for swells. Artists who have played Eggle guitars include Tommy Iommi, Albert Lee and Rory Gallagher. Handsome grey hardshell case. Just a terrific guitar. Very tempted to keep it for myself. (And maybe I will so hurry before I change my mind ; )
